An Overband Magnetic Separator is a type of magnetic separator widely used in industries to remove ferrous contaminants (like nails, bolts, rods, etc.) from conveyed materials on a belt or vibrating feeder. It's mounted above a conveyor belt and operates continuously, making it ideal for high-throughput environments.
⚙️ Working Principle:Magnetic Field Generation:
A powerful permanent magnet (usually ferrite or rare earth) or electromagnet is suspended above a conveyor.
Ferrous Material Attraction:
As material passes under the magnet, ferrous metals are attracted and lifted away from the product stream.
Automatic Discharge:
A conveyor belt running over the magnet carries the attracted ferrous particles to the side, where they are automatically dropped into a separate bin via a scraper or pulley.
Continuous and automatic metal removal – no stoppage needed.
Available in manual clean, semi-automatic, and self-cleaning (belt type) versions.
Can be mounted cross-belt (perpendicular) or in-line (parallel) to the conveyor.
Can be configured with permanent magnets (low power use) or electromagnets (stronger field, but needs power and cooling).
